It took so long to get an approval. Every time I asked if it would get approved soon, they would say yes and then ask for more stuff from me. This happened several times over several weeks. Only 3 days before closing, I got an email that the mortgage is approved. Nothing official, no commitment letter. I sat on pins and needles until closing. I was so afraid the deal would fall through. The closing was done through email. The next day I get a call from the title company that I sent the wrong amount. When I proved to them that I sent the right amount, they said the mortgage company changed the amount last minute without notifying me and with no explanation. Over a thousand dollars more. Nothing I could do at this point but send more money. I gave 2 stars because I really liked my loan officer and I do not think he was at fault.
