We were unaware that my husband was a victim of identity theft until we failed to receive our refund from the IRS. I mention this because an intricate part of the closing process is for the lender to receive copies of your last two year's tax return from the IRS directly. The IRS would not comply with the lender's request due to the Identity theft issue. Unfortunately, we were in a situation that we had to close on time and there could be no exceptions. The mortgage lenders worked diligently with us to remedy the IRS situation. They were co-operative and extremely sensitive with our dilemma. Without the co-operation of the lender, we still would not have closed on our home. Kudos to the processors, lenders and underwriters. Thank you, thank you.
